How do Bell Apps collect my personal information?

When you download a Bell App, Bell will automatically collect your personal information through the registration process and technical information about your Device, such as your IMEI, Device type, and mobile service provider.

Bell may also collect additional personal information by asking your permission during the download process or when you launch the Bell Mobile App. Permission will be requested depending on what the Bell Mobile App requires access to in order to function. Examples include Device and app history, identity, contacts, calendar, geo-location, SMS, email, photos, environment and motion sensors, files, microphone or Wi-Fi connection information. If you login using social network information (such as Facebook, Twitter or Google) Bell Apps may collect information from your social network profile data.

How do Bell Apps use my personal information?

Bell Apps use your personal information in order to provide the mobile app service you request by downloading the app. This may include providing content relevant to your location (such as news or traffic near you), permitting the delivery of customized information (such as the best route to your destination), syncing contacts, pictures or address books, or using log data and app history to remember where you stopped watching certain content.

Bell Apps may also use your personal information in order to troubleshoot problems with an app, make improvements or create analytics reports.

How do Bell Apps disclose my personal information?

Personal Information, wireless device details and information about your use of the Bell App may be shared with other Bell companies, suppliers and third-party service providers.

What controls do I have over my personal information?

You may permit or decline access to your personal information through the permissions granting process that applies to the operating system of your Device. If you decline access the Bell App may not function properly.

Permissions Specific to the Push-to-Talk (PTT) App

Permission Requested Purpose
Device and App History Device model details are required to support different PTT feature capabilities.
Contacts Contact information is required to import to the PTT App. The PTT App ads a PTT icon to your contacts list if the user is part of the PTT contact list.
Geo-location Location information (GPS and network based) is required for designated Dispatchers and Supervisors to track location, set up a geofence, make group calls from the map or geofence or locate the device for safety and check-in purposes.
SMS Send SMS ability is required to complete the initial activation of the device on the PTT server.
Photos/Media/Files Integrated multi-media messaging features require access to photos, media and files in order to send and receive multi-media messages within the PTT App.
Storage Access to storage is required in order to store multi-media message attachments and to copy logs from the PTT App for troubleshooting connectivity issues.
Microphone Access to the microphone is required in order to send and receive voice communications data.
Wi-Fi Connection The PTT App may use wi-fi to communicate with the server. Additionally designated individuals may check wi-fi signal strength and location for safety and service quality purposes.
Phone numbers Bell PTT mobile app collects your phone number and uses it to provide you with PTT services. The phone number you provide may be visible to other users of Bell PTT within your organization and your Talk Groups and other users of the PTT Service when set up by your organization.

After installing the Bell App, your Device may allow you to adjust your permissions for each Bell Mobile App in the ‘Settings’ icon on your Device.

You may delete or not use the Bell Mobile App if you do not want the app to collect, use or disclose your personal information.
